What are 4cs?
The 4Cs are the globally accepted standards for assessing the quality of a diamond. Together they contribute to the overall beauty and value of a diamond.
- Carat Weight: Carat is the measurement of the diamond’s weight. One carat equals 0.20 grams.
- Color: Color refers to the tint inherent in white diamonds. Most of the natural white diamonds have a slight tint of yellow. The less body color the diamond contains, the rarer and more valuable it is. The industry standard for grading color is to evaluate each stone against a master set and assign a letter grade from “D” (colorless) to “Z” (light yellow). Patrea only accepets D to I color diamonds.
- Clarity: Clarity is a measure of the purity of a diamond. A stone is graded by the visibility of inclusions under 10-power magnification. Patrea only accepets FL to Si1 diamonds.
- Cut: Cut determines how much a diamond sparkles. The cut grade of a diamond is determined by symmetry, proportion and polish. A well-cut diamond will reflect and refract light for maximum brightness and sparkle. In Patrea, we only carry round diamonds that are 'excellent' in symmetry, proportion and polish.
Natural Diamonds vs Lab Grown Diamonds
Natural diamonds are created by nature under rare and extreme conditions of pressure and heat millions of years ago. They are inherently valuable, rare and precious.
Lab-grown diamonds, on the other hand, are massively made in factories that are mainly in China and India. As technology improves, the cost of production declines, so does value. The price of lab-grown diamond is expected to decline year over year. The value retention is low.
In PATREA, we only appreciate and use natural diamonds.
Step 2: Choose Stone Shapes & Cut Styles
Shape and style are usually the first things to be noticed about a gemstone.
Shape
The round is the most popular shape because the brilliant cut can maximize light return and sparkle. All other shapes are generally classified as fancy shapes. Popular fancy cuts include: oval, emerald cut, pear, heart, cushion, radiant cut, marquise and asscher cut.
Style
Style is all about how the cutter arranges a stone's facets. There are three styles, brilliant cut, step cut and mixed cut. Besides these styles, cutters can create countless variations by adding, subtracting, and rearranging facets.
Step 3: Choose Ring Design
After confirming the main stone, together we will discuss all the possibilities of making your dream piece. Share your thoughts with us about the design. The more detailed your requirements are, the easier it is for us to create the jewelry you desire. We can provide you with hand drawings and computer designs. You may also select some ready-to-set ring designs in our store. When you are completely satisified with the design, we will send the stone(s) and design to our highly-trained local artisans for production.
Step 4: Complimentary Engraving Service
Our ring engraving service allows you to personalize your engagement ring by laser engraving. It can be names, sentences, quotes, dates, symbols, and even patterns.
This is the final step of the ring production. In 4 weeks, your bespoke piece will be ready and presented in a special jewelry box with light.
